MIFFLINTOWN, Pa. - A Philadelphia woman is facing escape charges after she allegedly hid in a coffin at a central Pennsylvania funeral home after slipping away from authorities.

Nicole April Kelly, 19, was arraigned Monday on charges stemming from the escape on May 13.

Police say Kelly was being taken to jail to await extradition to Delaware County on other charges. Authorities say Kelly escaped from custody in Mifflintown, prompting a search that lasted several hours.

Investigators say she was discovered at the Brown Funeral Home by the business' owner, who held her until police arrived.

Kelly remains jailed on $75,000 bail. It was not clear if she has an attorney.

The funeral home is seeking restitution for damage to a coffin Kelly allegedly hid in.
