WANTAGE TOWNSHIP, N.J. - The National Weather Service has determined that a tornado touched down in the northwest tip of New Jersey on Wednesday.

No injuries were reported in the rural Sussex County community of Wantage, but the winds ripped roofs off several barns, took down a silo, and uprooted trees. The tornado's winds reached 120 m.p.h., the weather service said yesterday.

The storms also flooded roads looding in urban areas of northeastern New Jersey and knocked out power to more than 25,000 utility customers statewide.

In the Pennsylvania Poconos, hundreds of residents were still without power yesterday morning after a tornado passed through Hamilton and Stroud Townships in Monroe County on Wednesday. The weather service classified the tornado as an EF2 storm with winds of 111 to 135 m.p.h. Another tornado was confirmed in Wyoming County, Pa. That one was classified as EF0, the weakest classification. - AP
