Fired casino camera worker can't sue

ATLANTIC CITY - A New Jersey appeals court ruled yesterday that a former casino surveillance-camera operator accused of using the cameras to ogle women can't sue for wrongful termination.

ATLANTIC CITY - A New Jersey appeals court ruled yesterday that a former casino surveillance-camera operator accused of using the cameras to ogle women can't sue for wrongful termination.

The Casino Control Commission cleared Robert Swan of wrongdoing in 2006, but Caesars Atlantic City had fired him.

Swan and several other camera operators were accused of ogling women on the casino floor in 2004. The casino paid a $185,000 fine, and the other operators were fined, suspended, and eventually fired.

Swan said a newspaper article and a Caesars news release in 2005 had characterized him unfairly. The Appellate Division of Superior Court said the casino had the authority to fire Swan as an at-will employee.
