Frontier flying daily to Denver from Philly starting next March

Frontier Airlines announced it will begin nonstop year-round flights to Denver from Philadelphia International Airport, starting March 17. The Denver flight will depart Philadelphia seven days a week at 6:45 a.m., and arrive in Denver at 9:05 a.m. The Philadelphia-bound flight will leave Denver at 4:45 p.m., and arrive in Philadelphia at 10:04 p.m.

The Denver flight will depart Philadelphia seven days a week at 6:45 a.m., and arrive in Denver at 9:05 a.m. The Philadelphia-bound flight will leave Denver at 4:45 p.m., and arrive in Philadelphia at 10:04 p.m.

A one-way fare of $109 to Denver for travel March 17 was listed Thursday on the airline's website flyfrontier.com.

"This is wonderful news for travelers in the Philadelphia region and beyond," Philadelphia airport CEO Mark Gale said. "Frontier has been expanding rapidly at PHL since December 2014, and they are providing our patrons with additional low-fare options to some of the most popular destinations we serve."

Frontier now flies from Philadelphia to 10 cities: Atlanta; Cancun, Mexico; Charlotte; Chicago (O'Hare); Houston; Miami; Minneapolis, Orlando; Tampa; and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Also, Flights will begin Oct. 25 to Fort Myers, Fla., and Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Frontier has been remaking itself as an "ultra low-cost" airline. Base fares are cheaper, but passengers pay fees to put a carry-on bag in the overhead bin ($30 at booking and up to 24 hours before flight and $60 at the gate); for advance seat assignments ($6 to $11); and $2 for coffee, tea, soda, and juice on the plane.
