1 teen killed, 3 wounded in N. Phila. shootings

A teenager was killed and three others wounded by gunfire in three separate shootings in North Philadelphia during the night, police said.

A teenager was killed and three others wounded by gunfire in three separate shootings in North Philadelphia during the night, police said.

Killed was Jerome Carlyle, 14, of the 3100 block of North Sheridan Street, in the Fairhill section.

Police said Carlyle was shot multiple times about 11:10 p.m. on the 700 block of West Clearfield Street, around the corner from his home.

He was pronounced dead at 11:50 p.m. at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, police said.

Investigators are seeking a motive.

Around midnight, a 15-year old boy was shot in the shoulder and critically wounded while sitting on the steps of his home on the 1500 block of North 19th Street in North Philadelphia, police said.

The youth told police he heard four gunshots when he was struck.

He was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was reported in critical but stable condition this morning.

Earlier, two 17-year-old boys were shot on the 300 block of East Gale Street in Olney about 11:15 p.m., police said.

One was hit in the left hand and the other in the left leg, police said. They were reported in stable condition at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

No arrests have been reported in any of the shootings.
