Ryan Fairbairn, a senior at Bishop Shanahan High School, has won the 2007 Agricultural Scholarship, a $1,000 college grant awarded by the Chester County Commissioners and the Agricultural Development Council.

Fairbairn, who plans to study animal science and biotechnology this fall at Penn State University, won the grant not just for his academic success at Shanahan, but also for his accomplishments in the Chester County 4-H Beef and Swine Clubs. Fairbairn has served as an officer in both clubs, and has won an array of grand-champion and champion ribbons at fairs and farm shows.

The Agricultural Scholarship has been awarded annually since 1995 to a high school senior planning to pursue a career in an agriculture-related field.
