Corbett urged to restart mortgage assistance program

A coalition of 80 organizations is urging Pennsylvania Gov. Corbett to restart the Homeowners Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program (HEMAP) by funding the program in the 2012-13 state budget.

A coalition of 80 organizations is urging Pennsylvania Gov. Corbett to restart the Homeowners Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program (HEMAP) by funding the program in the 2012-13 state budget.

HEMAP ended last July after providing loans to more than 46,000 qualified homeowners facing foreclosure since 1983.

Corbett will announce his budget for the next fiscal year, which begins July 1, on Feb. 7.
