Glaxo sues over malaria drug

A GlaxoSmithKline Plc unit sued Glenmark Generics Inc. alleging infringement of three U.S. patents for Malarone, a medicine that protects against malaria. Glaxo, which has major operations in Philadelphia, contends in the suit filed Aug. 14 in Wilmington that Glenmark, of Mahwah, N.J., intends to market copies of the drug, in violation of patents awarded since 1999. London-based Glaxo says Glenmark has applied for U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval on the tablets. Glenmark officials weren't immediately available to comment.    - Bloomberg News
