Unisys Corp. has renewed an information technology contract with the Chicago parks system for $9.3 million, the Blue Bell-based IT and software company announced today.

The six-year contract, signed in the fourth quarter of 2008, calls for a one-year extension at the Chicago Park District's option.

Unisys will continue to provide a variety of support services for the district, with which it has had a contract since 1994.

The contract covers computer technology for the park district's 1,000 employees in 150 locations, covering 570 parks and 7,600 acres, plus provides for hot spots in some parks to allow public WiFi capabilities.
