Former top Comcast Corp. executive Michael A. Doyle, who launched the CN8 channel and led the cable company's huge eastern division, has joined the board of WPCS International Inc., a specialty communications firm in Exton.

The chief executive at WPCS, Andrew Hidalgo, said today that Doyle could help the company with business development, brand identity and acquisitions strategy.

WPCS notes that Doyle headed a division in Comcast with 18,000 employees, or about one-fifth of the cable company's 100,000 employees. WPCS's stock was priced at 2.58 this afternoon in Nasdaq trading, down $0.08 (3.01 percent); the company has a market capitalization of $19.2 million.

Doyle resigned from Comcast earlier this year. His wife, Lynn Doyle, remains a host on CN8. Comcast recently said it would abandon the CN8 brand and rename the programming the Comcast Channel.
