For region, diesel price up; gasoline holds at records

The average cost of diesel fuel in Philadelphia rose to a new high of $5.02 per gallon - up a penny overnight - while the cost of gasoline held at the weekend records, AAA Mid-Atlantic said this morning.

The average cost of a gallon of regular unleaded was $4.15 in southeatern Pennsylvania, and $4 in South Jersey - unchanged from yesterday, the auto club said.

Nationally, diese is at $4.80 per gallon, and gasoline stands at $4.08.

Crude oil prices, meanwhile, slipped in morning trading, the Associated Press reported. Light, sweet crude for July delivery shed $1.76 cents to $132.85 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange by noon in Europe.
