Gas prices holding steady in region

The average price of a gallon of no-lead gasoline continued to hold steady at $3.23 a gallon in the five-county Philadelphia region, matching its highest yearly average, according to the Mid-Atlantic AAA.

In South Jersey, the price held firm at $3.02, down two cents from the highest average so far this year.

On the national level, the average price was $3.29, the price that was reached March 31.

Diesel in the Philadelphia region was at $4.28, down 2 cents from the year's highest average. In South Jersey, the price of diesel averaged $4, down 3 cents from the year's high; the national average was $4.02, down 2 cents from the year's high.

Crude oil for May delivery rose 85 cents, or 0.8 percent, to $105.68 a barrel at 10:32 a.m. on the New York Mercantile Exchange, Bloomberg News reported. Prices are up 64 percent from a year ago.
