Minnesota Vikings 38, Philadelphia Eagles 20 – as it happened

The Eagles fell to 3-3 with the 38-20 loss while Minnesota improved to 4-2. The Eagles will visit Dallas next Sunday night.

Carson Wentz completed 26 of 40 for 306 yards, 2 TDs and 1 interception. Kirk Cousins completed 22-29 for 333 yards, 4 TDs and one interception.

Vikings corner Mackensie Alexander intercepted Carson Wentz on their first play of the Eagles drive with 5:36 left. It was Wentz’s first second half interception of the season.

After holding the Vikings following a Zach Ertz fumble, the Eagles now take over from their own 8-yard line with 5:42 left.

Trailing 38-20, the Eagles went for it on fourth and 15 from their own, 33, Carson Wentz hit Zach Ertz for 17 yards to keep the drive alive. The next play, Ertz fumbled the ball. The Vikings how have the ball with 6:04 left on their own 49.

Minnesota went up 38-20 on Dalvin Cook’s 1-yard TD run with 8:17 left. That concluded an 8-play, 88-yard drive that took 4:44.

The Vikings got big plays on the drive with a 29 yard reception by Irv Smith and 35-yard run by Alexander Mattison.

Kirk Cousins has thrown for 318 yards and 4 TDs.

The Eagles had to punt giving the Vikings a first down on their 12-yard line with 13:01 left. On third down Wentz was sacked for a 9-yard loss by Eddie Kendricks and Mac Alexander.

By starting on their 12, it was Minnesota’s worst field position of the day, but a 29-year completion to Irv Smith gave the Vikings the ball on the Eagles 45.

Stefon Diggs scored his third touchdown of the game, an 11-yard reception from Kirk Cousins, increasing the Viking lead to 31-20 with 1:16 left in the third quarter.

Diggs beat Craig James on the play. He now has seven receptions for 167 yards and 3 TDs. Cousins is 19 for 26 for 276 yards, 4 TDs, 1 interception.

The Eagles have two starters out, left tackle Jason Peters with a knee injury and Nigel Bradham with an ankle injury. First round pick Andre Dillard has replaced Peters and Nate Gerry is in for Bradham

Jake Elliott kicked a 40-yard field goal to cut the lead to 24-20 with 6:19 left in the third quarter. On a third-and-2 play from the Minnesota 21, Carson Wentz’s short pass to Alshon Jeffery resulted in a one-yard loss, forcing the Eagles to go for the field goal. The Eagles have scored the last 17 points.

The Vikings were forced to punt on their first third quarter series. The Vikings had to punt on a fourth and 22 and the Eagles take over on their own 45 with 9:03 left in the third quarter

Carson Wentz scrambled and hit Alshon Jeffery on a 3-yard scoring pass on the first drive of the second half. That completed a 6-play, 75-yard drive.

The score was set up when Wentz hit Miles Sanders on a 45 yard pass to the Vikigns 4-yard line.

Carson Wentz hit Miles Sanders on a 32-yard scoring pass to cut Minnesota’s lead to 24-10 with 7:02 left in the first half. It was Sanders first NFL touchdown.

After holding the Eagles on fourth down, the Vikings passed their lead to 24-3 on Kirk Cousins 51-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs with 9:31 left in the first half.

Diggs has four receptions for 135 yards and 2 TDs.

On a fourth-and-two from the Vikings 49, Carson Wentz fired incomplete to Alshon Jeffery, giving the Vikings the ball with 9:39 left in the first half.

Jason Peters, who left on the Eagles second series, returned to his left tackle spot in the third series.

Kirk Cousins hit Stefon Diggs on a 62-yard touchdown with 11:39 left in the first half.

That was the Vikings longest completion of the season.

Jake Elliott’s 53-yard field goal cut the Vikings lead to 10-3 with 12:10 left in the second quarter.

On the drive Eagles left tackle Jason Peters went to the sidelines and was replaced by first round draft pick Andre Dillard.

On their second possession the Eagles are moving the ball and are near midfield as the first quarter has ended. Vikings lead 10-0 after one. The Eagles ran just seven offensive plays in the first quarter.

Dan Bailey increased the Vikings lead with a 39-yard field goal increasing the Vikings lead to 10-0 with 1:54 left in the first quarter.

On the play before the Vikings Adam Thielen was ruled out of bounds on an reception in the end zone. The Vikings didn’t challenge on the play and it appears that was the right move. Malcolm Jenkins pushed Thielen out.

Thielen has three receptions for 31 yards and a score.

The Eagles had originally stopped Kirk Cousins on a third down run, but Eagles corner Rasul Douglas was called for holding giving the Vikings a first don on the Eagles 23.

The Eagles failed to get a first down on their first drive, with three running plays. Jordan Howard was stopped for no gain on a third-and-2 play forcing the Eagles to punt

Kirk Cousins hit Adam Thielen on a six-yard scoring pass on their first series of the game. Thielen beat Sidney Jones on the play.

A diving 19-yard catch on third down by Thielen gave the Vikings a first down on Eagles 29 to keep the drive alive.

It was a 13-play, 75-yard drive that took 7:17. Kirk Cousins was 4 for 5 for 35 yards.
