Cowboys owner Jones likes Eagles with Kolb

ARLINGTON, Texas - Many people think the Eagles will rue the day they put Donovan McNabb in an Easter basket and shipped him down I-95 to the Redskins. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones isn't one of those people.

ARLINGTON, Texas - Many people think the Eagles will rue the day they put Donovan McNabb in an Easter basket and shipped him down I-95 to the Redskins. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones isn't one of those people.

He thinks the Eagles will be just fine without McNabb. More than fine. He thinks that with Kevin Kolb at quarterback, they won't be quite the Jekyll-and-Hyde bunch they were with the streaky McNabb behind center. At least against his team.

When McNabb played well against the Cowboys, the Eagles usually won. When he didn't, they usually lost. The problem was, the six-time Pro Bowler's good performances against the Cowboys had become more and more infrequent.

In McNabb's last 10 starts against the Cowboys dating back to 2005, the Eagles were 3-7. In the Eagles' three wins, McNabb had a passer rating of 98.4. Threw five touchdown passes and no interceptions.

In their seven losses, his passer rating was 70.2. In just one of those seven games was it higher than 69.0. Just four TD passes and six interceptions in those seven defeats.

Last year, the Cowboys swept the Eagles in three meetings, including a 34-14 win in the playoffs. McNabb completed just 53.3 percent of his passes in those three defeats. Averaged just 6.6 yards per attempt and threw only two touchdown passes and three interceptions.

"McNabb helped create those big swings in our games over the last 10 years," Jones said. "When he played well, it was like throwing the knockout punch. When he didn't, you were able to throw the knockout punch.

"I don't see that now [with Kolb]. I think Kolb and the way they're going about it now, you won't have those big swings one way or the other. I think every game with them is going to be a battle. Because of Kolb and because the makeup of the rest of their team is solid. And their coach, there is not a better coach in the NFL than Andy [Reid]." *
