Following his fifth-round stoppage at the hands of Tony "The Tiger" Thompson on Dec. 5, fringe heavyweight contender Chazz Witherspoon decided it might be best to take time off to recharge his batteries and consider his options.

Now, after a nearly 9-month break, the longest in his career, Witherspoon (26-2, 18 KOs) returns tomorrow night in the 10-round main event at Atlantic City's Trump Taj Mahal against southpaw Livin Castillo (16-8, 10 KOs), a 34-year-old journeyman from Ecuador. The eight-round co-feature pits Germantown super middleweight Farah Ennis (15-0, 9 KOs) against Reggie Pena (6-3, 1 KO), of Ocala, Fla.

"I know he is coming to rumble," Witherspoon, 28, a Philadelphia native and second cousin of two-time former heavyweight champion Tim Witherspoon, said of Castillo.

This is the first professional boxing card staged by Spartan Fight Promotions, which is headed by president Mike Brestle and director of boxing operations Jim Kurtz. Kurtz is the former manager of WBA heavyweight titlist Bruce Seldon.

Seldon's son, super middleweight Isiah Seldon (1-0), is in a four-rounder against Jason Johns (0-2). *
