CRESSON, Pa. - A western Pennsylvania man has been charged with shooting his mother to death after he crashed his car a few blocks from home.

State police at Ebensburg say Andrew Choros, 23, was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Sharon Choros, 50, a school nurse, in her home in Cresson Township, Cambria County.

Township police said Andrew Choros, a student at St. Francis University, had been arrested about noon Friday on suspicion of DUI. State police say that after his release he started shooting in the house, and the victim was shot when she returned home.

Choros was being held without bond at Cambria County prison.
