1MOTHER, SON CHARGED

IN DRIVE-BY SHOOTING

A mother-son duo has been charged with attempted homicide and related crimes in a drive-by shooting Monday in Upper Darby.

"Mom's driving the car, and her son opens up on them with a semiautomatic," Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood Sr. said of Michelle Terry, 41, and Dayvon Terry, 20.

Chitwood said Dayvon Terry, who was riding in the passenger seat of his mother's car, fired at least three shots at a rival family's Ford Explorer on Clover Lane.

A 10-week-old boy was in the back seat of the SUV, authorities said. One of the bullets shattered the rear window.

"It's a highly populated residential area, and these morons are shooting guns at 4 o'clock in the afternoon," Chitwood said. "That shot could have killed the kid."

The Terrys were arraigned Tuesday and are being held at the Delaware County Jail while awaiting their preliminary hearing.

A former Montgomery County elementary-school aide was sentenced yesterday to six to 18 years in state prison in a child-molestation case.

Granieri pleaded guilty in August to indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, unlawful contact with minors and corruption of minors at St. Eleanor Parish School in Collegeville in 2006, '07 and '08.

He apologized in court to the boys and their families.

Granieri reportedly bought an ad in a local newspaper last month to apologize to his victims and the community.
