11 pounds of pot seized, woman held in car stop

In case you need a reminder, smoking pot can make you forget things. Police said that Dyneesha Turner, 19, of Hadfield Street near 56th, in the Kingsessing section, forgot to turn on her headlights when she was driving in West Philadelphia early yesterday, catching the eye of cops on patrol and leading to the seizure of about $50,000 worth of marijuana, said Lt.

Frank Vanore, a police spokesman.

The two officers stopped Turner on 61st Street near Media after observing that the headlights were off on the 2006 gold Cadillac DeVille she was driving on 61st Street.

"It was also her manner of driving that led to the stop," said Capt. Benjamin Naish, of Southwest Detectives.

Once the cops stopped the Cadillac and approached Turner and a male passenger, they noticed a strong smell of marijuana emanating from the car and saw that Turner's eyes were glassy, according to Vanore.

After officers told Turner that she was going to be arrested, the male passenger fled. He was still at large last night, police said.

The officers then searched the car and found the 11-pound pot stash in the trunk, police said.

Turner is charged with driving under the influence, criminal conspiracy, possession with intent to deliver and possession of marijuana. *
