Perhaps Rannord A. Jones was channeling his inner Mike Tyson.

When Jones disagreed with a referee's call at an adult soccer game in Delaware, Jones bit the ref's chin.

Jones, 28, was playing in the soccer game Thursday night at the Weiss Parkland, on Aspen Drive in New Castle County, and was cited by the referee for unsportsmanlike conduct, police said.

Instead of quietly following orders after he was ejected from the game between the Fulhundred team and the Pizza by Elizabeth team, Jones bit the ref's chin.

"The official attempted to back away from the player at which time the player grabbed the victim's shoulders and pulled him towards his face with his mouth wide open," New Castle County police said in a statement.

The 38-year-old official suffered deep lacerations just below his lower lip and underneath his chin from the severe bite, police said.

After the attack, police said, Jones took off his jersey and fled. Police were able to identify Jones immediately by using the team's roster and showing the victim a copy of Jones' driver's-license photo.

The victim was treated at a hospital for his injuries and released, cops added.

Jones surrendered at the New Castle County Police Department yesterday morning, said Cpl. Trinidad Navarro.

He faces charges of felony assault, abuse of a sports official, terroristic threats and harassment, Navarro said. *
