Davy Jones, Daily News Sexy Single

Hey, hey, he's a Monkee: Yes, he's that Davy Jones, the former teen idol and lead singer of the Monkees, the 1960s rock group modeled after the Beatles.

Age: 63

Neighborhood: Beavertown, Pa. "It's a pretty remote place ... It gives me a chance to regenerate. My neighbors
are so kind to me. If she's making a pie, I get one. They take care of my cats."

Children: Four adult daughters, ages 21 to 40

Grandchildren: Three

Marital status: Twice divorced

Nominated himself: Spotted the Daily News Sexy Singles ad and mailed in his photo, like any other entrant. "It's all a bit of fun, the whole idea is."

Not monkeying around - horsing around: "We're [Jones' family] all horse people. I actually left home when I was 14 and my mother died. I went to the stables."

Before auditioning for the Monkees: Trained to be a professional jockey

Number of horses he owns: 11. "That's always been my lucky number."

Still recording: Just finished a song called "Amore" with Ron Dante, former lead singer of the Archies and a former producer for Barry Manilow, Cher and Dionne Warwick, among others. "It's very Latin. Very flamenco. Very current."

Yes, he's available: Last steady girlfriend was a 29-year-old flamenco dancer, whom he dated for two and a half years.

No bad-boy rocker: "I've never been a promiscuous person. I've got a lot of morals."

In matters of the heart: "It's about passion. It's about commitment. It's not about an instant fit."

Still needs love: "I never went to the prom except with Marsha [Brady]. I missed out on a lot of things."

Money isn't everything: "I was asked to do a few things over the last years that would generate a lot of money. But it wouldn't sit right with me ... Booker T. Washington said success isn't to be measured by the position you reach in life but by the obstacles you overcome to reach that success."

Favorite pastimes: He's restoring an old church, turning it into a memorabilia museum. "I've got so much stuff, it's not even funny."

On small-town living: "Everyone thinks I'm in the witness-protection program ... The farmers know me. Everyone knows me."

Easy access: "I'm an hour and a half from the airport, which is a doodle. You can't do that in L.A."

What he likes in a woman: "I never met a woman yet that I didn't like."

What's next: "It enriched my life a lot being part of that band, part of that group. But it doesn't have to end there."
