Ashlee wants another shot at SNL

Apparently Simpson missed memo about it being 'live'

THREE-AND-A-HALF years after her public humiliation on the show,

Ashlee Simpson

says she wants to give "Saturday Night Live" another shot. In a 2005 appearance, she was revealed to have been lip-synching when a mix-up caused Simpson's vocal track for her previous song to start playing while the physical Simpson's mouth was shut and her microphone at her side.

Simpson, however, can only blame herself for her place in youtube history. Her response to the error was to look terrified, awkwardly jig her way offstage and later blame her backup band.

Simpson's new album will hit stores April 22, where it will immediately be lost in the shadow of the Pennsylvania primaries.

And while we're momentarily thinking about Ashlee Simpson again . . .

American TV remake Justified

The standard of celebrity cross-platform jumps is Hills star Heidi Montag (for variety, substitute Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Tila Tequila, Ashlee Simpson, Scarlett Johanssen or any number of pretty, musically underqualified actresses/heiresses/reality-TV contestants) leveraging her fame into a musical career that manages to make Beethoven, Brahms, Selena, John Lennon, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain and most of Lynyrd Skynyrd roll over.

But in your classic-man-bites- dog scenario, singer Justin Timberlake has announced that he will be making a foray into the world of television. Timberlake will be an executive producer on NBC's American remake of "Mi Problema con las Mujeres," a popular Peruvian comedy.

The show will be called "My Problem with Women," a title surprising only to those SatTatt readers who slept through Spanish 101, and will center on a young man's, uh, problem with women, a revelation that hopefully was surprising to no SatTatt readers.

Timberlake joined the project after being approached by production company Reveille. The company has a good record on foreign adaptations: They turned the Colombian telenovela "Yo soy Betty, la fea" into "Ugly Betty" and the British "The Office" into, uh, the American "The Office."

Cheesecake or death?

British comedian Eddie Izzard has announced that he will finally be taking his latest solo show - "Stripped!" - on the road. The transvestite comedian and star of "The Riches" will stop at the Academy of Music May 5-7.

Philadelphia seems to be one of the only stops on the tour that isn't selling tickets yet (they go on sale March 16), but tickets in other cities are going in the $50-$100 range. To paraphrase the eternal Pointer Sisters: SatTatt is so excited! She just can't hide it!

Inanity now!

David Beckham recently left a Hollywood waitress a $1,000 tip on a $100 tab, despite drinking only mineral water . . . Sarah Jessica Parker suffered karmic retribution for years of uncomfortable shoe-shilling when she utterly, feet-to-the-sky wiped out on the steps of Lincoln Center during an Annie Leibovitz photo shoot for Vogue . . . NBC and Jerry Seinfeld both shot down rumors that they are in talks for a new sitcom . . . Jennifer Lopez's $6 million deal with People Magazine for the rights to the first pictures of her twins reportedly included a clause stipulating that the magazine had to stop referring to her as J.Lo. *
