Jenice Armstrong: 'Hey, Hey ...' he's no longer a Sexy Single

HEY, HEY, he's a Monkee, and he's married, too. Yep, that's right. The former teen idol, Davy Jones, got married Aug. 30.

HEY, HEY, he's a Monkee, and he's married, too.

Yep, that's right.

The former teen idol, Davy Jones, got married Aug. 30.

At least we now know why he wasn't at the Daily News' annual party last week honoring this year's Sexy Singles.

Jones was just returning from his honeymoon.

In July, he'd been included in our roundup of the area's most outstanding single men and women. Jones has several homes, including one in Beavertown, in central Pennsylvania, where he raises horses.

While waiting for a flight at Philadelphia International Airport, he'd seen our ad asking readers to send in photos if they wanted to be part of our Sexy Singles contest. On a whim, Jones decided to enter.

But somewhere between his picture appearing in our feature and the party we have each year to celebrate the winners, Jones proposed to the former Jessica Pacheco, 31, a flamenco dancer and actress. When asked what happened, Jones told me he had been working on his farm, about an hour from Harrisburg, and daydreaming of Pacheco, whom he'd dated for 2 1/2 years. They'd drifted apart mainly because of their careers.

"I said to myself, 'This is ridiculous. What am I doing building a wall here?' "

After a three-week engagement, the couple married in a small ceremony at her parents' home in Miami. During their exchange of vows, Jones sang "All of Me" to his bride and invited their guests to join in. The couple honeymooned in

Bali.

"I don't want to be alone any more," he explained. "I don't want to be on my own. It's great having been a teen idol, but when the curtain comes down, all I had before I met her was myself."

The couple met in 2006 while performing in a production of "Cinderella." This is Jones' third marriage and her second. He's 63, she's 31.

"She's an old soul in a young body," Jones said yesterday. "We love swing music. We had big- band music at the wedding reception."

"What we say is, 'We fit.' "

Jones, who has four daughters and three grandchildren, says he's learned from previous relationships.

"I've never given my total self to anybody. It's my mistake. My immaturity. But I'm willing and wanting to do that now."

As for the experience of being a Daily News Sexy Single, Jones said "It was a bit of fun. I'm still glad about that."
