Philly schools closed again Friday

Friday's another snow day for kids in Philadelphia.

Friday's another snow day for kids in Philadelphia.

All public and archdiocesan schools will be closed Friday as the city continues to shovel out from Wednesday's massive storm.

The Philadelphia School District's administrative offices will open two hours late.

Shana Kemp, a school district spokeswoman, said that it was difficult for workers to get to all of the district's buildings because of the snow- and ice-covered roads Thursday.

"These are common factors in dealing with these kinds of snowfall totals and safety is a priority," she wrote in an e-mail.

"Temperatures are expected to fall again tonight, leading to refreezing of the slush that's already on the ground on many roads, which will again make it difficult for personnel to reach those sites and get them ready for schools to open," Kemp wrote.
