Person fatally struck by Atlantic City Rail Line train

Service was stopped between Egg Harbor City and Atlantic City for several hours.

A person was fatally hit by a train on NJ Transit's Atlantic City Rail Line Monday morning, suspending service on part of the route for about three hours.

The transit agency said around 7:15 a.m. that a pedestrian on the track area north of Abescon was struck.

Atlantic City Rail Line trains did not run between Egg Harbor City and Atlantic City.for several hours while emergency crews responded to the scene. Service started again shortly after 10 a.m.

The train was the 6:40 a.m. from Atlantic City to Philadelphia. About 150 passengers were stuck on the train as transit officials waited for the coroner to arrive.
