Cars set ablaze by downed power line in Francisville; power restored to 700 customers

The cars were parked on the 1700 block of Francis Street.

The fire was caused when a powerline fell across the car and caused it to begin to burn, it then caught the car parked next to it to burn as well. Power was lost to the residents of the area as well.

Multiple cars caught fire in the Francisville section of the city Monday morning after a downed power line fell across a car.

The cars were parked on the 1700 block of Francis Street.

A PECO spokesperson said about 700 residents in the area lost power, which was restored Monday morning. Crews remained on scene as of 11:30 a.m. and were working to determine what caused the line to fall.
