ST. LOUIS — Former Drexel player Tramaine Isabell had a season-high 23 points plus 10 rebounds as St. Louis defeated La Salle, 62-49, Saturday.

Javon Bess had 14 points for the Billikens (17-9, 8-5 Atlantic 10).

The Explorers (8-16, 6-6), who were led by Saul Phiri’s 12 points (on four three-pointers), shot just 30.2 percent from the field and were held to a season-low 49 points. They shot a woeful 18.5 percent (5-for-27) from beyond the arc.

Pookie Powell, La Salle’s leading scorer, was held to 1-for-6 shooting and Isiah Deas, the team’s second-leading scorer, was just 2-for-11.

Powell’s only basket brought La Salle to within 43-39, and a layup from Croswell pulled the visitors closer with 5:56 left, but that would be as close as the Explorers would get.

Ed Croswell added 10 points and 14 rebounds for La Salle.
