What they’re saying about Jimmy Butler and the Sixers’ win over the Raptors

Jimmy Butler? More like Jimmy Buckets.

Fans on social media are ready to see Butler back in a 76ers uniform after his performance in the 76ers’ 94-89 Game 2 win over the Raptors in Toronto on Monday night.

Butler finished with 30 points to go with five assists and 11 rebounds to lead the Sixers to an emphatic victory after a disappointing Game 1 that had people thinking Philly might be an easy 0-4 out in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Butler sunk a crucial three-point shot on an impressive pass from Joel Embiid with just over two minutes to play in the fourth quarter that had fans thinking this was in the bag -- even if the Sixers had allowed the Raptors within one after leading by as much as 18 late in the first half.

Fans loved it.

Oh, wait, sorry -- according to Brett Brown, that’s James Butler to you.

But Butler wasn’t the only one getting love during the win ... It’s just hard to believe who else fans were raving about.

Greg Monroe and James Ennis? Yep.

Monroe got the nod as the first big man off the bench on a night in which Embiid was made available to play just minutes before tip-off due to gastroenteritis.

Ennis came off the bench and had 12 points in the first half.

(But he only had a single free throw in the second ...)

Raptors fans were, understandably, pretty salty watching bench players dominate Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Lowry.

But to the chagrin of many Sixers fans, Monroe got knocked out of the game after adding 10 points in 12 minutes.

The Sixers did a better job of containing Leonard -- he finished with 35 points after scoring 45 in the Game 1 beatdown -- but it ended up being Leonard’s first loss to Philly in his career spanning his time in San Antonio and this season in Toronto.

It was also the Sixers’ first win in Canada since November 2012, predating hits like Drake’s “Started from the Bottom” and “Hold On, We’re Going Home.”

(Have those songs stuck in your head now? You can thank me now.)

But still, things were dicey toward the end, and the Raptors had cut the Sixers’ lead to within 10 when none other than Amir Johnson came in off the bench.

But the worry was unfounded. Johnson appeared in the game for just three minutes.

Embiid helped seal the game with a clutch dribble-drive late in the fourth quarter on a night in which he struggled.

But Monday was all about Butler, who made history, according to ESPN.
