Embiid loves it when fans chant during his foul shots

One would assume that the 76ers would want the Wells Fargo Center crowd to remain silent when Joel Embiid attempts foul shots.

One would assume that the 76ers would want the Wells Fargo Center crowd to remain silent when Joel Embiid attempts foul shots.

But they have come to enjoy the "trust the process" chants whenever the franchise center steps to the line.

"I think we need something like that in this city," coach Brett Brown said Sunday before the 112-108 setback to Cleveland. "I'm not frowning upon that. We want to have some fun. We want to find winning in a more defined way."

The team's slogan was "trust the process" during the last three seasons. Embiid gave himself the nickname, "The Process," and the home crowd won't let anyone forget when he's at the foul line.

"It's all fun when they chant 'trust the process,' " Embiid said. "It's all fun and I love it."

Charismatic assassin

Brown was asked if he's seen anyone who possesses the personality of the seemingly jovial yet competitive Embiid.

Brown said Embiid has the fierce facial expressions of retired all-stars Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant. "Like that serious, they are just assassins," he said. "You know Joel's got that anger. He can jump out of it and the charisma to get people going."

Twin towers

So far, Embiid and reserve center Jahlil Okafor have been on the floor together during only one stretch this season. Brown said he hadn't abandoned the idea.

"I, too, want to do this," he said. "But look at tonight. It's a terrible matchup."

Embiid and Okafor would have struggled chasing Cleveland's sharpshooting Kevin Love on the perimeter.

Brown said the team may try it Monday night with Okafor and third-string center Richaun Holmes. Embiid did not make the trip as he sits out the second of back-to-back games.
