Sixers Notes: Sixers' Pargo a Kyrie Irving fan

CLEVELAND - The first time reserve guard Jeremy Pargo stepped on the court with the 76ers it was as an opponent, and what a night it was.

Filling in for injured all-star point guard Kyrie Irving on Nov. 21, Pargo, in his first start of the season, posted a career-high 28 points in a 92-83 Cleveland victory.

Pargo went on to start 11 games for the Cavaliers before he was waived and eventually signed by the Sixers. However, it was not his big night against the Sixers that Pargo wanted to talk about before Friday's game between the teams.

It was Irving, who is again out, this time with an injured left shoulder.

"Being here watching Kyrie work, it was unbelievable," Pargo said. "He's going to be a great player. I think right now that he's a top-five point guard. If you really look into it, I think he's [one of the] top two."

Pargo said that the Los Angeles Clippers' Chris Paul is the top point in the league and that Chicago's Derrick Rose would be right there if he were not hurt.

Irving, who has appeared in just 49 games this season, leads the Cavaliers in scoring (23.0) and assists (5.7). He might return before the season is over.

Go Buckeyes

76ers forward Evan Turner said he was glued to the television on Thursday watching his Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Buckeyes are on the brink of their second straight NCAA Final Four after reserve LaQuinton Ross sank a tie-breaking three-pointer against Arizona that advanced the Buckeyes to the West Regional final.

"It's really great for the program," said Turner, who attended Ohio State. "It's great NCAA basketball. It's good for them because Ohio State is such a football school. Each year that we do this, it just solidifies the program even more."

Turner spends part of his summer break back in Columbus, Ohio, working out with the team. He plans to return again this summer.
