Two electrifying running backs will showcase their abilities in an intriguing nonleague football game on Saturday.
Patrick Garwo and Conwell-Egan will clash with Edward Saydee and host Penn Charter at 2 p.m. at Maguire Field.
Garwo, a Boston College recruit, has carried 33 times for 281 yards and three touchdowns this season.
The Temple-bound Saydee rushed 12 times for 92 yards and a score in Saturday's 35-21 win over Lansdale Catholic. He also returned a kickoff 96 yards for a score.
Garwo rushed for nearly 1,900 yards and 24 touchdowns last season as the Eagles went 7-7 and reached the PIAA Class 3A state semifinals. Saydee netted 1,100-plus yards and 11 scores as the Quakers went 9-1 and placed second in the Inter-Ac League.
Garwo is supported on offense by fellow running backs Terome Mitchell and Dajuan Harris and dual-threat quarterback Alex Goldsby.
Saydee is aided by fellow ballcarriers Jalon Jones and Matthew Marshall, tight end Ryan Maloney, and receiver Brendan Thomas.
Marshall turned a right-side screen pass into a 90-yard score on the second play from scrimmage against Lansdale Catholic. Saydee followed soon after with a 57-yard TD burst.
