Pa. boys and girls: North Penn's Bilotti wins No. 50

The senior righthander struck out six in a four-hitter as the host Maidens cut down Council Rock North, 2-0, in a nonleague game.

Bilotti is the first North Penn player to reach 50 wins.

Nicole Yanni hit a solo home run in the second inning to put the Maidens, who are ranked No. 5 in Southeastern Pa. by The Inquirer, ahead for good.

In other nonleague action, Amanda Sharp struck out seven in an eight-inning two-hitter and then scored the game's only run as Council Rock South walked off with a 1-0 win over Upper Dublin.

Ches-Mont National. Maggie Balint struck out nine in a two-hitter and also hit a three-run home run to power host Avon Grove past Coatesville, 10-0.

Baseball

Ten days after its season was scheduled to begin, No. 3 Neumann-Goretti got started with a 7-4 Catholic League victory over No. 10 La Salle.

Matt McKeown and Tommy Nardini both recorded two hits for the Saints.

Central. Jonah Siegel had four hits and three runs as host Conestoga beat Garnet Valley, 13-12.

Boys' Lacrosse

Andrew Watts scored in overtime to send St. Joseph's Prep to an 11-10 victory at previously unbeaten Manheim Township.

Also in nonleague play:

Forry Smith scored four times to help visiting Haverford cruise by Conestoga, 13-5. The Fords are ranked No. 1 in the country by Nike/U.S. Lacrosse.

Mike Fay scored the winner in overtime to lift host Malvern Prep over Salesianum, 10-9. Salesianum lost in the Delaware state final last season.

Girls' Lacrosse

Conestoga won, 10-7, at Vero Beach (Fla.) in a nonleague game.

Vero Beach is the nine-time defending Florida state champion. Conestoga is the second team from Southeastern Pa. (Agnes Irwin) to defeat Vero Beach this month.
