Pa. Girls | Episcopal's Perfetti hits 1,000-point mark in win

Brittney Perfetti yesterday became only the second female basketball player at Episcopal Academy to reach 1,000 points for her career. And the best news of all for fans of the Churchwomen, other than a 57-48 Inter-Ac League win over visiting Baldwin, is that she's only a junior.

Perfetti needed only two points coming into the game to achieve the milestone.

She did that, plus add an additional 31 for a career-high 33 points. Her first two points of the game, on a pair of free throws, achieved her mark.

Alison Hadden, a 1998 grad, is the only other girl to reach 1,000 in Episcopal Academy history.

Megan Pauley scored eight of her 15 points in the second quarter to key a 20-6 second-quarter run and give Agnes Irwin a 41-33 win at Penn Charter.

Host Notre Dame geared up for its Friday showdown with Germantown Academy by beating Springside, 59-39. The Irish (20-1 overall, 6-0 league) got 13 points from Ashley Teti.

Catholic North. Carmen Tyson-Thomas scored 40 points and added 12 rebounds and nine steals as Conwell-Egan crushed visiting Kennedy-Kenrick.

Taylor Peltzer scored 11 points to lead Archbishop Wood to a 43-23 win at St. Hubert.

Catholic South. Bernadette Moran scored 20 points to lead Archbishop Prendergast to a 54-30 win over visiting West Catholic.

Cardinal O'Hara placed three players in double figures, led by Alicia Manning's 13, in a 75-38 win at Little Flower.

Amberel Diaz scored 10 points and had four steals and four assists for Neumann-Goretti in a 65-40 win over visiting Hallahan.

Central. Erin Hardy-Merritt capped a solid game with a late free throw to give host Penncrest a 38-37 win over Haverford High. Hardy-Merritt's free throw, with 1.8 seconds left, was the final point of the game and her 21st of the afternoon.

Ches-Mont. Ilyssa Friedman's 15 points led West Chester East to a 50-45 upset win at Downingtown West.

Bicentennial. Breanna Derstine, a 5-foot-8 forward, scored 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as host Christopher Dock gave Girard College its first league loss, 40-34.

LaKeisha Thomas scored six of her 18 points in the fourth quarter to lift MaST Charter to a 48-45 win at Calvary Christian.

Southern Chester County. Visiting Oxford got 19 points from Ashley Palmer in a 68-25 win over Delco Christian.

Del-Val. Brianna Winston scored half of her 12 points in the first quarter to get Harriton off to a good start in a 40-21 win over visiting Interboro.

Friends Schools. Alex King's 17 points and 16 rebounds helped host Shipley remain unbeaten in the league with a 59-35 win at Friends' Central.

Penn-Jersey. Visiting Pine Forge used a 12-7 third quarter to earn a 30-26 win at Akiba Hebrew. Simona Nappier 10 points to lead Pine Forge.

Catholic Academies. Julia Trogele hit two free throws with 43 seconds left in overtime to lift host Villa Maria past Villa Joseph Marie, 53-52.

Mount St. Joseph made all 14 of its free throws in a 58-33 win over visiting Gwynedd-Mercy. Sarah McGorry led the Magic (18-2, 13-1) with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Merion Mercy finished out the game with a 24-11 run to beat visiting Nazareth Academy, 62-46, as Emily Corzel's 14 points.
