RUSHING OFFENSE: The Eagles didn't try to run the ball much. And when they did, they weren't very effective. They had just 12 called run plays in the first three quarters. Their longest run was seven yards. LeGarrette Blount had just one rushing first down.

GRADE: D

PASSING OFFENSE: Carson Wentz's ability to escape a rush and extend plays showed itself on his early 58-yard touchdown  pass to Nelson Agholor, and again later on an important 23-yard, fourth-quarter throw to Zach Ertz on a third-and-10. Ertz was targeted eight times and had 8 catches, five of them for first downs.

GRADE: B+

RUN DEFENSE: In their two wins over the Eagles last season, the Redskins rushed for 337 yards and averaged six yards per carry. Sunday, none of their running backs had a run longer than six yards. Even with 30 yards on four carries from quarterback Kirk Cousins, they only averaged 3.8 yards per carry against the Eagles.

GRADE: A

PASS DEFENSE: The Eagles sacked Kirk Cousins four times and were able to pressure him much of the day. Brandon Graham (2 sacks) was a beast. MLB Jordan Hicks influenced a critical fourth-quarter interception by Jalen Mills with a well-executed "A'' gap blitz. Even after losing their best corner, Ronald Darby, the Eagles didn't buckle.

GRADE: B+

SPECIAL TEAMS: Caleb Sturgis missed an extra point early on, but made all three of his field goal attempts, including a 50-yarder at the end of the first half that gave the Eagles a lead they would never relinquish. Donnie Jones and Jaylen Watkins collaborated on a perfectly executed fourth-quarter punt that Watkins downed at the one-yard line.

GRADE: A-

OVERALL: With a road trip to Kansas City against the rested Chiefs awaiting them, the Eagles really needed to win this game. The defense got pressure on Kirk Cousins and neutralized the Redskins' dangerous tight end, Jordan Reed and slot receiver Jamison Crowder. The run game wasn't very effective and Carson Wentz's protection was inconsistent. But he still threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns.

GRADE: B+
