Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has not been cleared for contact, coach Doug Pederson said Sunday. However, Pederson would not answer who will start at quarterback on Thursday against the Atlanta Falcons. The NFL Network reported on Saturday that Nick Foles will start.

"Trying to win a football game, and I don't want to put my game plan for everyone to see it, read it, and teams can scheme," Pederson said. "Just doesn't make a lot of sense."

Wentz would not be able to play without medical clearance for contact, so the revelation that he has not been cleared would suggest he will be out on Thursday. When asked if there was still time for Wentz to return, Pederson said: "We got a lot of days left." The Eagles only practice three more times, including Sunday, before the game. Pederson said earlier this summer that the starter would need a full week of work and that he would make his decision by the Friday before the game.

Pederson would not answer how the quarterback reps would be split. He suggested that the starting quarterback will take most of the work in the practice, as is often the case.

Pederson started his news conference saying he would not discuss the decision publicly and directed his ire at reporters for putting words in his mouth, although he would not specify what words were put in his mouth.
