Analyzing Sam Bradford's passes against Packers

THROW-BY-THROW DESCRIPTION

GREEN BAY - Here is a description of each throw from Sam Bradford's 10-for-10, 121-yard, three-touchdown performance Saturday night at Lambeau Field.

Several of the throws weren't especially long or difficult, but it was remarkable that none went over, behind, or in front of the intended receiver. Once, Jordan Matthews had to leave his feet to gather in a pass, but it seemed to have been thrown high to get it over the coverage.

Bradford wasn't under a ton of pressure, but he did take a few hits. Nobody went diving for his knees.

1First play after Raheem Mostert's 67-yard return of the opening kickoff - which would have kept the Eagles' streak of special-teams touchdowns going, had kicker Mason Crosby not nudged Mostert out of bounds - Bradford lobbed a swing pass to DeMarco Murray, who got 5 yards before encountering Clay Matthews.

2Two plays later, Bradford flipped a screen to Murray on the left side, with Allen Barbre, Jason Kelce and Andrew Gardner all lined up as escorts. Barbre made a nice block, Murray got 7 yards on first and 10 to the Packers' 21.

3Second-and-5 from the Packers' 8, Bradford feathered a beautiful pass to Darren Sproles in the end zone, on a wheel route, for a touchdown. Miles Austin and Brent Celek lined up on Sproles' left side of the formation, then ran routes to the right, taking defenders with them. Sproles was left one-on-one with linebacker Sam Barrington, which is the sort of thing the Eagles look for.

4On second-and-3 from the Green Bay 48, Bradford play faked to Murray, then threw a strike down the left side to Matthews, who was just barely tripped up by Micah Hyde's desperate dive, at the Packers' 21.

5Same drive, second-and-4 from the Green Bay 15, Bradford hit Matthews crossing over the middle, Hyde again tripping Matthews up just before he could turn on the jets. But the 7-yard gain was good for another first down.

6Two plays later, second-and-goal from the 8, Miles Austin went in motion, then followed Trey Burton and Matthews off the line from the left side. Three receivers, two defenders in the area, Bradford found Austin sitting in a hole at the 1.

7Two plays after that, fourth-and-goal from the 3, Bradford made his best play of the day. Backing up in the face of pressure from Hyde - who took him down after he released the pass - Bradford waited patiently until he found Burton at the goal line, in front of a well-covered Riley Cooper. Touchdown.

8A first-down screen to Sproles netted 33 yards, to the Green Bay 26, Bradford's biggest gainer. It's worth noting that he enjoyed excellent field position on all three drives; this one was the longest, at 59 yards.

9Just as with No. 4, Matthews was alone with Hyde down the left side, Bradford faked the handoff to Murray, found Matthews, this time for 17 yards, to the Green Bay 9. Murray helped Matt Tobin with Julius Peppers, who has been known to make trouble. Tobin took the place of right tackle Lane Johnson after the second series, Johnson having suffered what he later described as a minor left MCL sprain.

10Busted coverage for Green Bay as Barrington, Sproles' buddy from the first touchdown, stayed in his stance, peering into the backfield as Celek ran past him on second-and-goal from the Packers' 7. Bradford's perfect throw found Celek in the back of the end zone.
