Doss reverses field, signs with Vikings

Mike Doss' scheduled visit to Philadelphia took a detour when the free-agent safety decided to sign with the Minnesota Vikings after visiting with them Tuesday.

Mike Doss' scheduled visit to Philadelphia took a detour when the free-agent safety decided to sign with the Minnesota Vikings after visiting with them Tuesday.

Doss, 26 and coming off a season that was cut short by a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, received a one-year, $1 million deal, according to a report on NFL.com. The former Indianapolis Colt had been scheduled to visit with the Eagles yesterday at the NovaCare Complex.

The Eagles, who have only three safeties with NFL experience on their roster, need to add depth at that position and are likely to do so in the draft on April 28 and 29.

By signing with the Vikings, Doss will be reunited with Leslie Frazier, who was the defensive backs coach last season for the Super Bowl champion Colts. The Vikings hired Frazier, a former Eagles assistant, as their defensive coordinator after the Super Bowl.
