Maureen Nolan Maloney, 73, of Bryn Mawr, a caregiver and retired bank executive, died of lung cancer Tuesday at her home.

After graduating from West Philadelphia High School for Girls, Mrs. Maloney became a teller at First Pennsylvania Bank branches in Philadelphia and later trained others in the job. She was always kind and helpful to customers, her brother William said, and eventually managed branches in Bala Cynwyd and Springfield, Delaware County, for First Pennsylvania, which became CoreStates.

Mrs. Maloney retired in 1995 as vice president and manager of CoreStates' Llanerch branch. She was past president of the Soroptimist Club of Delaware County and was an officer of the Quarter Century Club for bank employees.

Mrs. Maloney was a gifted student with a perfect attendance record, her brother said. She played piano and harp in her high school orchestra, and at 15 was performing on the organ at church funerals and weddings, he said.

After the death of her father when Mrs. Maloney was a teenager, she helped to raise her young siblings, John and Thomas, and cared for her ill mother for 30 years, William said.

In 1967, she married Hugh Maloney, a utility company executive. They enjoyed travel abroad. He died in 1992.

In addition to her brothers, Mrs. Maloney is survived by seven nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today at St. John Neumann Church, 330 Highland Ave., Bryn Mawr. Friends may call at 9 a.m. Burial will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
