Police and the FBI are looking for two men who staged a daring bank robbery in Glenside Thursday.

The heist happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. at the Conestoga Bank on Glenside Avenue, according to investigators.

Witnesses told police that one man, who was armed with a silver handgun, directed an employee back to the vault as the second man walked behind the teller station and began taking money from each clerk.

The bandits were interrupted when an unwitting customer walked into the lobby. The customer immediately left and called 911, according to police.

Police said the men then hopped into a car and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, speeding south on Harrison Avenue.

Both suspects are described as black males in their early 20s and were last seen wearing black hooded sweatshirts and black jeans. One suspect is about 5-foot-4-inches tall with a thin build, while the second suspect is about 6-foot-2-inches tall.

The men are believed to have fled in a mid-to-late-90s-model Nissan Maxima with a tag that includes JM as the first two letters and 29 as the first two numbers.

Anyone with any information on the suspects or crime is asked to contact the Cheltenham Township Police Department detective unit at 215-885-1600 ext. 499, or to submit an anonymous tip by dialing 215-885-1600 ext. 777.
