Man accused of thefts from Knights of Columbus

A Delaware County man surrendered Friday to authorities on charges that while he was treasurer of a local Knights of Columbus, he stole more than $50,000 from the organization. Michael D. Twigg, 46, of Glenolden, while treasurer of the Cardinal Dougherty Assembly and the Trinity Chapter - two local entities of the K of C - forged 50 checks during a five-year period, according to the Delaware County District Attorney's Office. Twigg faces multiple felony counts of theft and 50 counts of forgery. A preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday in Darby Borough District Court. - Robert Moran
