Trucker killed in fiery crash on N.J. Turnpike

CRANBURY, N.J. - A truck driver was killed early yesterday when his vehicle overturned on the New Jersey Turnpike in Middlesex County and burst into flames, trapping him inside.

CRANBURY, N.J. - A truck driver was killed early yesterday when his vehicle overturned on the New Jersey Turnpike in Middlesex County and burst into flames, trapping him inside.

State police were unsure what caused the crash, which occurred about 1:40 a.m. in a northbound lane near mile marker 70.9 in Cranbury. They say the truck swerved off the road and struck a guardrail, then went into an embankment before becoming engulfed in flames.

The driver, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash and investigation caused extensive traffic delays in the area for several hours. - AP
