Pep band returns to Widener for athletic and other events

CHESTER Strike up the band. The pep band, that is. Widener University's musical ensemble is back, the college has announced.

Under the direction of Iain Moyer, the newly appointed director of athletic bands and music programs recruiter, the band will perform at athletic and other university functions. A similar student-run group folded a few years ago.

"We've completed the recruitment process and are now learning appropriate music selections," Moyer said in a statement.

The fall debut is scheduled for a football game on Oct. 18 during homecoming weekend. Spring plans include having the pep band perform at home basketball games for both the men's and women's teams.

The Widener pep band is open to all undergraduate students with previous high school band experience. For more information, contact Moyer at 610-499-1010, or e-mail imoyer@widener.edu.
