March may well come in like a lion.

A white, wet, wild lion.

According to the National Weather Service and AccuWeather, 3 to 6 inches of snow - perhaps more - could fall in the region tonight and into tomorrow. Along the Jersey Shore, less accumulation is expected.

Two storms were on the way. The first, arriving from the south, was expected to bring light snow early today. Then, after a break, a heavier downfall is possible, with strong winds stirring and spreading the snow.

Most of the Mid-Atlantic states and New England will be affected, according to AccuWeather.

The only accumulation of consequence in the area this winter was on Feb. 3. A storm with much more strength than anticipated brought up to 10 inches of snow to parts of the region, closing schools, delaying flights, and slowing transit and traffic.
