WASHINGTON - U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez has been tapped to cochair the Senate Democratic Hispanic Task Force, Senate leaders announced yesterday.

The New Jersey Democrat will team with U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar (D., Colo.) to lead the task force, which holds special events for Democratic senators and Hispanic leaders as part of efforts to address Hispanic needs.

Menendez, who was born in New York City but grew up in Union City, N.J., is the child of Cuban immigrants. - AP
