Woodlyn man accused of bludgeoning his wife to death

A Delaware County man accused of bludgeoning his wife to death with a hammer, then gulping down drugs and bleach, was arraigned in a hospital on first-degree murder and other charges, police said.

Paul K. Wanyoike, 34, called 911 Sunday and said, "She's dead. I did it. I hit her over the head," police said. The couple's 2-year-old daughter then spoke to the dispatcher. The couple's 4-year-old daughter was also in the Woodlyn apartment, officials said.

Officers found Yetunde E. Wanyoike in the apartment lying in a pool of blood and bleeding from the head, with a bloody hammer next to her. She was pronounced dead at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

Paul Wanyoike was found on the floor in a rear bedroom, with foam coming from his mouth and a strong odor of chlorine bleach. "The guy drank Clorox and took every pill in the house," police Capt. Charles Howley said. - AP
