Westville man sentenced in death of Camden man

A Gloucester County man was sentenced yesterday to 19 years in prison in the August 2004 killing of a 33-year-old Camden man in the city's Fairview section, authorities said.

Edward L. Wilson, 44, of Westville, pleaded guilty in October to aggravated manslaughter, admitting he beat Hopeton Hudson over the head early Aug. 1, said Bill Shralow, spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

Wilson, who had been staying at a friend's house nearby, was acquainted with Hudson. In addition to multiple injuries to his face, head and body, Hudson was stabbed in the chest. Household electronic equipment, including a DVD player and camcorder, were missing from Hudson's home and were found at the home where Wilson had been staying, Shralow said. - Sam Wood
