Bicyclist in East Frankford killed by school bus

A bicyclist was killed before dawn yesterday when he fell under the rear wheel of a school bus turning in East Frankford, police said. Only the driver was on the bus.

The man, who remained unidentified yesterday evening, was southbound on Aramingo Avenue about 6 a.m. when he hit the bus, which was turning left from the northbound lane onto Church Street.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and it took officials more than three hours to remove his body from under the wheel. An investigation is under way and no charges have been filed, police said. - Joseph A. Gambardello
