A two-pound Yorkshire terrier stolen from a Montgomery County pet store over the weekend has been returned to the store owner in good condition, authorities said yesterday.

The four-month-old pup, named Garcia for Eagles quarterback Jeff Garcia, was stolen Saturday from a cage at Tom's Pet Outlet in Audubon. A woman wearing a bulky parka was captured on surveillance videotape removing the dog through a three-inch gap in the cage.

She left the store with the $1,300 pet hidden either beneath her coat or in her pocketbook, District Attorney Bruce L. Castor Jr. said. After police put the videotape on TV and the Internet, the woman apparently became alarmed, Castor said. She alerted a friend who contacted a lawyer. The lawyer returned the dog.

No charges have been lodged, and police still don't know the dognapper's identity, said Lower Providence Police Chief Francis L. Carroll III. - Bonnie L. Cook
