A state trooper was dragged several hundred feet after he woke a man sleeping in a vehicle and the man sped off, eventually crashing in a fiery wreck, police said.

The trooper approached the car after finding it parked on a road in Philadelphia's Wynnefield section early yesterday. When the man woke up, he put the car in gear and started driving off, dragging the trooper along with him, police said.

The car then crashed into a pole and caught fire, but the suspect got away. The trooper was taken a hospital, but police said his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. - AP
