Aunt charged with neglect after 4 children left in car in mall parking lot
A Camden woman is facing neglect charges after she left four children unattended in a locked vehicle in a mall parking lot, police say.
Police said officers found the children -- ages 9, 8, 3 and 1 -- alone in a locked vehicle in the parking lot of the Cherry Hill Mall on Friday afternoon.
The temperature was in the mid-70s at the time and the children were in good condition, police said. The car's windows were down.
Police say the children's aunt, 33-year-old Vianey Derio-Vega, brought them to the mall but left them inside while she shopped.
Mall security located the woman inside; she was taken into custody and charged with neglect.
Derio-Vega was released pending an Aug. 27 court hearing.
