A man who allegedly raped and stabbed a woman inside Deshong Park in Chester on Christmas Eve is in custody, police said Saturday.

Shaquille Malik Tillmon attacked the woman while she walked through the park on the Avenue of the States between 1 and 2 p.m., police said. Shortly after 2:30 p.m. Sunday, police were called by Crozer Chester Medical Center, where the alleged victim had been admitted for treatment of her injuries.

The woman told police her attacker was riding a bike and carrying a book bag. He pulled out a knife, grabbed her by the hair, verbally threatened her, and then dragged her into a wooded area, where he raped and stabbed her, police said.

She identified Tillmon from a photo array and he was taken into custody. He is being held on $1 million bail at the George C. Hill Correctional Facility.
